There are many ways to fill blending machines with the product; for instance, in multi-story buildings, it can be filled (also called charged) from the floor above. Blenders are placed on a lifting mechanism that allows the product to be dumped from the top, then lifted to allow discharge from the bottom. This system is especially valuable in buildings with low ceilings. The most popular method, however, is to have a mezzanine out in front of the blender and charge it from there.

Our state-of-the-art mezzanines include safety gates for loading and pneumatic lifting systems that lift 50- or 100-pound bags from a pallet to the edge of the blender. The discharges can include pneumatic bulk bag openers/filling systems, bulk bag dumping rails, or tracks for staging and dumping into one or more one-ton bulk bags simultaneously. Additionally, we can add magnets, sample ports, dust-collection systems at the blender's discharge. We have produced and installed systems that allow the customer to run nearly twice as many batches per day as on a similar-sized blending line. Conversely, a budget mezzanine can be constructed to a minimum width just large enough to hold the materials going into the blender.
Costs
It is true that sophisticated blending mezzanine construction is a significant investment. But when you compare this cost with that of a ribbon mixer or other blenders, it is only a fraction of the expense, yet it can produce up to twice the blended product per day. We manufacture these mezzanines in large sections, making them easy to ship and reassemble at your plant. Even the more complex units, which include a new blender, can be assembled in approximately three days by a small crew of capable installers. We mark all joints so the installer knows exactly where and how to connect the parts, and, should it ever be needed, the system can be taken apart the same way and moved to a new building or location.
