Paddler Blenders, like their cousins ribbon blenders, have been around American industry for a very long time. They are generally used when a much more gentle blending or handling of the product is required than can be accomplished with a ribbon blender. Like a ribbon blender, their initial purchase cost, maintenance, and production costs per pound of product produced is quite low compared to other types of industrial blenders. They can be used to blend many things, but they excel in gentler blending such as coating nuts, mixing items like potato or sea food salad, or for use in slurries such as spaghetti sauce. With an attached heating jacket, they can cook and blend at the same time. With a cooling jacket, you can keep products in motion while they cool down.
A standard Paddle Blender will tend to mound the product in the center of the machine unless it is somewhat liquid in form. However, by adjusting some of the blades and their angles, this mounding can be reduced. Paddle Blenders are fairly easy to load and unload. If you deliberately want a swirl in your product, like caramel ribbons running through ice cream, or colored swirls in concrete or stucco, paddles excel at this type of performance.
